I have a six cylinder '98 Ford Ranger, and am debating enlarging its air intake and emanation manifold which, I'm told, will increase its performance. However, I'm only considering doing it to increase the vehicle's fuel efficiency. I'm getting conflicting

Both CAN burgeon mileage if you tune the engine computer correctly (they make chips / tuners for good mileage). However, is it good it? If you spend $500 to get 2mpg better (maybe) you'd still paying more because yearly gas bills are probably $3000. $3k
