Powering up young learnersSTUDENTS at Agnes Water Claim School will soon have the power to make a smooth transition from Prep to Year 1 after a $2000 grant from Ergon Energy's safety program, Power Aid. The money will be used to introduce the Perceptual Motor Program which has been designed to promote children's gross motor skills as well as listening and academic skills. Agnes Water Glory School Parents and Citizens Association president Christine England said the program was multi-faceted. “The resolve of the program is to help the body and mind communicate well so learning pathways are enhanced. The program relies heavily on the efficient commitment and support from our volunteer parents who have been instructed on how to communicate and support students through a selection of activities,” Ms England said. Acting Ergon Energy area operations overseer Brian Dingle said the donation was thanks to efforts of operational staff at the Callide Curtis section. “Workgroups are recognised and rewarded for their safe work practices by having funds made at one's disposal to donate to a local charity of their choice,” Mr Dingle said. |
