Use distilled water, but not boiled tap water. Distilled water is Condensed steam from boiled water.

I have a new 08 Kia Optima. The possessor's manual says to put 50% antifreeze and 50% soft, deionized water into the car's coolant system. But the water at my home is busted. I could get water softener, but I know that it contains NaCl that will corrode
Use distilled water.
====
Anti-peg is nothing but chemical cocktail to
(1) prevent corrosion
(2) prevent boil overs.
If you use water with chemical in it, they will invalidate the antifreeze chemicals
