Flood Problems Causing Damage To Vehicles

"We always can get out that way but we can't get out down toward Cowskin," said Chris Honas, who lives attached Cowskin Creek.
Residents who live near the creek say heavy rain often means changing go plans.
"When you go this way the water comes up where you can't drive down. The road's covered with water so you can't get through it," said Honas.
Those who watch the bay rise over its banks year after year know when it's not OK to take a chance.
"We're just smart about it, we're not effective to take that chance, so we won't go through it," said Honas.
Experts say it's a smart decision, both for the safety of the driver, and for the shelter of the car.
"The engine's pretty much just like a vacuum cleaner and it sucks in a lot of air. And if you're driving through high water it's well-grounded going to pull the water right into the engine," said Davis-Moore Auto Party Mechanic Griff Guinn.
Water will cause the engine to lock up, and it may never start again.
