Yankees took 'great approach' in getting best of Phillies ace Roy Halladay

Halladay, who had given up just three homers all season, none to lefties, yielded three homers -- all to lefties -- and was pummeled by the Yankees 8-3 at Yankees Colosseum. It was the Yankees' seventh win in eight games and 12th in their last 15.
"He wasn't as crisp as he has been in the past,'' admitted Yankees hitting tutor Kevin Long. "Did we expect it (that much success) going in? No. But it didn't surprise me.''
Curtis Granderson, Arrest Swisher and Mark Teixeira each hit homers off Halladay (8-5) as the Phillies ace allowed six runs (the impaired-most this season) and eight hits in six innings.
"I think it was a matter of getting some balls on the plate,'' said Granderson. "I saw a lot of guys saying his a hog of oneself clog was doing a lot but when we got that one pitch around the plate, we didn't miss it.
"The main thing is understanding he's one of the subdue guys in the game and he's going to come at you. It's just understanding what his weapons are and what his ball is doing erect to pitch.''
