Oklahoma Municipality Flooding 2010 – Oklahoma City Water Rescue VIDEO. A State of Pinch has been declared for 59 Oklahoma counties after heavy rains caused flooding and spoil. Thunderstorms pounded the Oklahoma City area for hours dropping up to 10 inches of lavish and causing flash flooding.
The flooding stranded motorist and caused emergency personnel to schlep out approximately 50 rescue missions. Forecasters said the system dropped so much outpouring because it stalled, resulting in the same areas being hit over and again. The entire system lasted for about 8 hours.
Initial reports make whoopee that there were 160 injured. No fatalities have been reported yet. Damage seems to be fairly huge with cars submerged, roads underwater, and many people are left without power.
A dramatic water rescue unfolded when Oklahoma Diocese Fire Department went to rescue a teenage girl that was swept from her car. Video from a helicopter shows the stuff clinging to trees trying to stay above the water. The Fire Department went out in a small let loose boat and quickly reached the girl dragging her into the boat. That is when the rescue vessel capsized and dumped all four passengers into the water. Other emergency personnel quickly sprang into act sending another rescue boat as well as several air boats to the area.
